SwedCham China Job Posting

Communication & Marketing Intern (Based in Beijing)

About Us

The Swedish Chamber of Commerce in China (SwedCham) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization representing Swedish businesses and decision-makers in China.

Established in 1998, we currently have around 200+ members and partners. SwedCham organizes a wide range of events, including seminars, workshops, and networking opportunities, fostering connections within the Swedish business community in China.

We also collaborate with Team Sweden, which includes:

  • The Embassy of Sweden
  • The Consulate General in Shanghai
  • Business Sweden
  • Visit Sweden

Together, we work to strengthen the Swedish community in China.

Your Role

Join us as a Communication & Admin Intern and immerse yourself in the dynamic operations of an international Chamber of Commerce. This internship offers a unique opportunity to engage with the Swedish business community in China through event planning and marketing initiatives.

2025 marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Sweden, and you will play a vital role in interesting projects and signature events during your time with SwedCham China.

As a Communication & Admin Intern, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing SwedCham’s social media accounts, focusing on WeChat (including its video channel) and our official LinkedIn page.
  • Creating engaging content for social media, newsletters, press releases, and articles.
  • Designing marketing materials, including event posters, flyers, and web banners.
  • Taking ownership of event organizing, from planning to execution.
  • Collaborating with member companies to enhance event activities.
  • Taking meeting minutes and translating documents as required.
  • Providing daily office support and assisting with administrative tasks.

Our Expectations

We are looking for someone proactive, creative, and passionate about communication, marketing, and Swedish/Nordic culture. You’ll need to manage projects independently while being an adaptable team player.

You will work closely with the Communication & Admin Intern in our Shanghai office on a daily basis. Managing and upgrading the official WeChat account will be one of your primary tasks, so fluency in Chinese is essential.

Requirements

  • Internship Duration: 6 months to 1 year (immediate start preferred).
  • Fluency in Chinese and English is required; proficiency in Swedish is a plus.
  • Educational background in Communication, Marketing, Business, Economics, or related fields.
  • Strong writing skills, knowledge of social media, and a passion for digital marketing.
  • Familiarity with design tools, video editing, or photography is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have the legal right to intern in China, such as:
    • Chinese citizens (students or professionals).
    • Foreign nationals enrolled at a Chinese university with an internship permit.
    • Swedish students in China with legal internship rights.

What We Offer

  • Full-time role: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
  • A symbolic paid internship with a flexible work schedule (occasional business travel may be required).
  • 7 days of paid leave for every 6 months of work, plus an EAP program included.
  • Opportunities for networking and professional development.
  • A dynamic work environment with team-building activities.

Note: Interns are required to have valid insurance during the internship period and should manage their own housing costs in Beijing.
